Bengaluru:The Congress party appears to have finalized its candidates for 17 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka for the upcoming general elections. Among the potential contenders, young Congress leader Vinod Asuti is expected to secure the party’s ticket to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Dharwad constituency, where he will face off against the formidable four-time MP and central minister, Pralhad Joshi.

Asuti had previously vied for a chance to contest the Karnataka Assembly elections held last year from the Navalgund constituency. However, the party ultimately awarded the ticket to newcomer NH Konaraddi, who had recently joined from the JD(S) just before the elections.

Notably, Asuti recently participated in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, alongside ministers and MLAs, to discuss election preparations and intensify campaigning for the upcoming polls.

In addition to Asuti, other potential Congress candidates include Samyukta Patil from Bagalkote, Mansur Ali Khan from Bengaluru Central, Chandrappa from Chitradurga, Jayaprakash Hegde from Udupi, Padmaraj from Dakshina Kannada, Kumar Naik from Raichur, Soumya Reddy from Bengaluru South, Anjali Nimbalkar from Uttar Kannada, M Laxman from Mysuru, Sagar Khandre from Bidar, Mrunal Hebbalkar from Belagavi, and Rajeev Gowda from Bengaluru North.
